"A century of pressing. The same stone mountains. The same uncompromising standard."

Frantoio Diglio, Sannio, Campania -- Est. 1925

One Hundred Years of
Pressing Mastery

Every Chiarizio bottle is pressed at Frantoio Diglio -- one of the oldest continuously operating olive mills in the Sannio mountains of Campania, founded in 1925 in Durazzano, just minutes from Sant'Agata de' Goti. For a century this mill has done one thing, and done it without compromise.

What makes the difference is not equipment. It is a hundred years of knowing exactly when, exactly how, and exactly why.

The Chiarizio family's own olives -- grown in the mountains near Sant'Agata de' Goti -- are brought to this mill for pressing. The result is oil that carries both the character of our land and the discipline of a craft refined over ten decades. Old-world expertise, family fruit, one extraordinary oil.

The History of the Mill

1925
THE MILL IS BORN

Frantoio Diglio opens in Durazzano, Sannio. The original press runs on a mule-driven millstone and hand-operated machinery. Oil is stored in clay jars. From the first press, the standard is uncompromising.

1940s–70s
REPUTATION GROWS

Across three decades, the mill earns its standing in Campania. Growers from across the Sannio region bring their olives here knowing the press will honor the fruit. Quality, not volume, is the measure of every harvest.

1981
MODERN PRESSING

The mill is upgraded with a continuous-cycle cold-press system -- extending capacity while raising quality. The new equipment preserves polyphenols, aroma, and character that older methods could not protect.

Why Extra Virgin Matters

Medical research confirms what Campanian families have always known: true cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, rich in polyphenols, is one of the most beneficial foods in the world.

HEART HEALTH

Extra virgin olive oil reduces LDL (bad) cholesterol while raising HDL (good) cholesterol, helping protect against heart disease and arteriosclerosis.

🌿
POLYPHENOL RICH

Cold-pressed extra virgin oil retains its natural polyphenols -- powerful compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

🛡
CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION

Research links regular consumption of high-polyphenol olive oil to reduced risk of cardiovascular conditions and certain cancers. Quality of oil is everything.

The Way It Has Always Been Done

01
OUR GROVES

The Chiarizio family's olives are grown in the mountains near Sant'Agata de' Goti -- the same land the family has worked for generations. Mineral-rich volcanic soil, mountain air, and old-growth trees produce fruit of rare intensity.

02
HAND HARVEST

Picked by hand at peak ripeness and rushed to the press within hours. That window matters enormously -- the shorter the time between tree and mill, the higher the polyphenol count and the truer the flavor.

03
THE CENTURY PRESS

At Frantoio Diglio's continuous-cycle cold-press mill, a hundred years of technique meet modern precision. No heat, no shortcuts, no compromise -- just everything the olive has to give, preserved exactly as nature intended.

04
DIRECT TO YOU

Sealed in 750ml bottles and brought from Campania to the United States. Our olives, the old mill's craft, one extraordinary oil. The Chiarizio name means we stand behind every drop.
